The National Award
Sarah Barrow, Head of the Lincoln School of Media, speaks for us all:
“Best Friends That Love Each Other, by ’09 Media Production Graduates Alex Holland, Michael Henry, Stuart Almond & Daryll Gregory, was declared the national winner at yesterday’s RTS National Student Awards at the Barbican Centre, London. Their film, a series of well-crafted comedy sketches with acclaimed performances by each of the students, came top in the Entertainment category against stiff competition from other top HE Media Schools across the country.”
Media Production programme leader Mike Mason said:
“I would like to join Sarah in congratulating Alex, Michael, Daryll, Stuart, and Brian with this fantastic achievement! Winning such a prestigious National Award is not only great news for the School, Faculty and University in terms of confirming our standing as a provider of ‘premier league’ programmes of study, it shows once again that our students are among the best in the country when it comes to creativity, originality and professionalism and is a just reward for the enthusiasm and extremely hard work all of you put into your projects. Well done!”
The RTS national judges said:
“The Entertainment award went to the University of Lincoln’s Alex Holland and his team for comedy sketch show Best Friends that Love Each Over. The judges called it “an ambitious project that was hugely impressive and revealed massive potential in both the on and off screen talent”.
The Regional Award
Undergraduate and Postgraduate Awards were judged in four categories: Animation, Entertainment, Factual and Fiction. Entries for the Undergraduate group were judged on a regional basis and the winners were then put forward for national judging. The national juries selected three nominees per category and the winner was selected by secret ballot.
