The Media Arts Showcase and Awards ceremony took place on Tuesday 24th February at the Engine Shed. Compered by LSFM graduate, YouTube sensation and guest Radio 1 presenter Jack Howard, the event was a celebration of success for students, graduates, staff and special guests.
The evening included screenings of short films such as the recent RTS award-winning mockumentary Facebook Anonymous, and What Goes Up? – winner of the Best Romance category at the London Film Awards 2014. Also showcased were the animations Luma St, Lullaby and Magpie; beautiful collaborations between BA Animation and BA Audio Production graduates of 2014 that have been selected for competition screenings at film festivals around the world.
A series of awards were presented on the night to current students from across the School of Film & Media.
The award winners were:
Best Creativity – Sarah Worcester
Best Research – Steph Marshall
Best External Engagement – Captive by Thomas Faulkner, Alex Faulkner, Yolanda Taylor, Alex Dearle, Mark Nunn, David Amos
Best Storytelling – Little Sister by Rebecca Randall, Tom Leeder, Dan Hipwell, Tom Burlinson, Richard Rumble, Chloe Osborne
Best Technical Skills – To Hull and Back by Andrew West and Henry Willmott
The event was attended by staff, students, alumni and special guests, including Visiting Professor Alex Graham, founder of Wall to Wall Television – the production company behind programmes such as The Voice and Who do you think you are?
