Hello! I’m Rosie and I graduated in 2015 with a BA (Hons) in Media Production. I work for BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC as a Content Producer for CBeebies. My role involves managing the social media for pre school shows Hey Duggee, Go Jetters and Sarah & Duck. As an online producer my role could be anything from coming up with new ideas for videos to promote magazines and toys to collaborating with the Children’s department in Manchester, attending brand partner meetings and even researching Christmas cakes designs!
I’m really excited to have joined the BBC after working for 18 months at a social media agency in East London on projects for Red Bull, MTV and CBBC. This role has allowed me to use the skills I’ve already gained in Children’s television to create exciting and inspirational content for families, parents/guardians and teachers! In my last year of university I wrote my dissertation on ‘Bringing The Children Out To Play’ a study on the relationship between Children’s online/broadcast media and the outdoors. I love spending time in nature and in my spare time I’ve been working on my own project called ‘The Urban Backpacker.’
I’ve been writing, photographing and interviewing companies and charities in the outdoors, adventure and environment industry on what London has to offer in its green spaces and adventures further afield. This is growing week by week and I have recently pitched to turn the idea into a radio show, which has been accepted by Roundhouse London to bring these interviews to life on air. I will be working as a presenter for Roundhouse Radio to deliver the show in the evenings for the next 12 months and learning new skills along the way with lots of super exciting training opportunities.
Social Media and Radio are two very different mediums but what I’ve learnt over the past 12 months is that all skills are transferable. My advice to anyone wanting to get into a career in TV, radio, film and more is to never pass up on opportunities to learn or grow in different areas. Every little thing is useful!
