Super student opportunity overseas for first and second year LSFM Media Production undergraduates. Nigel Morris, Principal Lecturer and KDU Tutor, posted: University of Lincoln (UK) has a close partnership with KDU University College in Penang, Malaysia, which delivers a Media Production degree very similar to ours. Part of the arrangement is for KDU to offer a three-week summer programme in late June to twelve Lincoln students on the following programmes: Accountancy, Business (including joint Business programmes), Computing, Media Production, and PR. Selection will be via an application process.
Having visited KDU myself last year (and looking forward to going again for the Exam Board this summer) I can vouch for what a friendly, vibrant, fascinating and beautiful place Penang is, and I would urge you to go online to find out more. If you’re interested, there’s a talk on Wednesday 7 March at 4-5 pm in MB1019 to explain the programme and application process. It would be really appreciated if you would register your interest ahead of the meeting by emailing studyabroad@lincoln.ac.uk
Senior Administrator Sarah Hayne, who is very familiar with both KDU and the programme, and International Mobility Manager Laura McCarthy will be presenting along with current Lincoln students who visited KDU last year – they are extremely enthusiastic and more than happy to share what the experience is like. Expect to hear mouth-watering accounts of some amazing food.
The programme, commencing on or around 18 June 2018, will involve a range of activities including classroom-based language and cultural studies (Asian cookery, batik workshop, photography), voluntary work in the community alongside KDU students, and a series of industry visits to high-tech companies based in Penang. Students will have free time at the weekends to explore everything Penang and the wider region has to offer (at their own expense).
The cost to the student will be just £300 towards the flight plus spending money; the remainder of the travel costs, plus accommodation, insurance and tuition fees, are paid for by the University of Lincoln and KDU.
