Michael_HenryWe’re offering two lucky individuals the opportunity to make some extra cash, gain experience with a local (Lincoln-based) production company, and work with brands as diverse as LEGO, LYNX, PRINGLES, and GILLETTE. Interns will also get to work with us on our next feature film ‘TIME AND PLACE‘ (shooting will be from January to March 2014).

Our Creative Internship Programme is flexible to allow students to work around studies, and graduates to work around other forms of employment. Award-winning BWNG at LSM: Craft of Creating a Web Series – book!

BWNG-logoCongratulations to BWNG ‘Brothers With No Game.’ It won Best Web Series at the BEFFTA (Black Entertainment, Film, Fashion, Television & Arts) Awards 2013 and at the start of this month it won ‘Best Online Production’ at the Movie Screen & Video Awards.  The creators, writers, directors and producer will be guest speakers on Tuesday (12 November) to share an analysis about the craft of creating an online series.

The online comedy drama has also won multiple awards, from producing to editing, earlier this year at the LA Web Series Festival and our 2007 graduate Dani Moseley plays the character ‘Simone’ in BWNG.

LSM Awarded BFI Film Academy – again!

BFIandLSM-ACADEMY_firstproject-Spring2013Hurrah! After LSM’s success in partnership with CfBT Education Services, earlier this year, we’ll be hosting the BFI Film Academy programmes over the next two years. It means we can offer young people in the East Midlands hands-on opportunities to learn film production from UK industry experts and access our state-of-the art studios, equipment and technology.  Brian Hall, LSM’s Senior Lecturer, will once again take the lead on this project: “Our first programme was a fantastic success, and we are now on the lookout for enthusiastic applicants who can demonstrate a creative aptitude and an excitement for the film industry.”

Matthew Gambell and Production Team__What Goes Up filmThis summer LSM students, like Director Matthew Gambell and the dedicated production team from writers to producers, have been busy fundraising, scripting and shooting an independent feature film called ‘What Goes Up’.  It’s a “rom-com with a sci-fi twist”, which is currently in post-production.

Darren Scales learns about scoring his film

Darren Scales has been working on his sci-fi epic “The Drift” since August 2011, and the movie is now in post production, scheduled for a Christmas 2013 release. He’s recently been working on the original musical score. As well as producing this low budget movie, Darren (who describes himself as the executive bully,) has regularly updated his production video diary “Driftcasts”. Here’s the latest episode, in which Darren meets with James the Score, composer for THE DRIFT, and asks him what it takes to write a score:

Universal Pictures’ Emerging Writers Fellowship

The Emerging Writers Fellowship is an exciting new program at Universal Pictures designed to identify and cultivate new and unique voices with a passion for storytelling. We are looking for talented screenwriters who have the potential to thrive, but don’t have access to or visibility within the industry.

Universal Pictures’ will entertain applications for the fellowship beginning on September 3, 2013. Interested applicants should submit an original screenplay as well as additional background materials in order to be considered. All semi-finalists will then be asked to submit a second screenplay. Ten finalists will be selected and interviewed in Los Angeles. Up to five fellows will be chosen to participate in the program.
