LSFM, Class of 2018 | Grad Day!

Excited! TODAY 11th of September 2018 is a memorable day for LSFM’s graduands. We are proud of our students’ achievements at the University of Lincoln School of Film & Media. Our Graduation ceremony will be at the lovely Lincoln Cathedral at 2.30pm. The Cathedral doors will open at 1.30pm and all seated please by 2pm. Reminder for graduands and guests to head to the Lincoln Castle grounds to collect your tickets from the Ticketing Desk and your gown from the gowning marquee. #LoveLincoln Graduation Ceremonies will be streaming live. 

We will get an insider’s view of Grad Day with soon-to-be Class of 2018 Imogen Hayes – read her previous post about getting a job – so watch this space! In the meantime, congrats to all who are graduating today and this week. Uni of Lincoln said “notable names receiving honorary degrees from the University include the comedian, actor and writer Robert Webb, best known as half of the comedy double act Mitchell and Webb and TV series Peep Show. In 2017, Robert published his number one best-selling memoir, How Not To Be a Boy.” Read the full press story.

Student Opportunities | Creative Careers Festival, 5-7 Feb 2018

CreativeCareersFest-poster-Feb2018University of Lincoln’s Creative Careers Festival 2018 from the 5th to 7th February has a range of student opportunities, and some events for recent grads, from selling Art online to creating colourful CVs and from graduate schemes to careers in digital media. Run by Careers and Employability in partnership with the College of Arts (CoA) the fest will offer events to the 6 Schools within the CoA, so LSFM students take a look at the sessions and book NOW! Here are some events:

4-week Festival of Creativity, Lincoln | 12 May – 9 June 2017

FestofCreativity-2017-LOGOLincoln is hosting its first, FREE, Festival of Creativity (FOC), organised by the University of Lincoln’s College of Arts. The four-week fest (12th May-9th June) is to showcase and celebrate the emerging creative talent in the city – bringing together a wide range of disciplines through a series of exhibitions, talks and performances for everyone to ‘engage, explore, imagine’. The festival hosts a number of signature events, with advice from leading creative industry experts exploring the wider debate about the importance of the arts in contemporary society.

Final year students from across the College of Arts will celebrate the culmination of three years of study, sharing their work in respective Degree Shows in venues across the city, from art exhibitions and fashion shows to interactive displays and theatrical performances. See the FOC Lincoln School of Film & Media site. LSFM Interim Head Richard Vickers said: We believe graduates should be skilled in communication, be instinctively collaborative, entrepreneurial and inherently interdisciplinary in their approach… Our students learn through projects that have social and cultural capital, exploring creative approaches to challenges and applying design thinking as a process for developing solutions.   LSFM showcase 29th May 11am-7pm at New Theatre Royal, Lincoln LN2 1JJ | Follow @LSFMshow

Creative Careers Festival | College of Arts 6th-8th Feb 2017

CreativeCraeersFest-Feb2017.PosterBOOK NOW for the FREE Creative Careers Festival, on-campus, Monday 6th, Tuesday 7th and Wednesday 8th February. Events are for our students and graduates, so there will be a focus on Film and Media from Self-employment Strategies to Selling Work Online. University of Lincoln Careers said: “All sessions have limited space, so each is operating on a first come, first serve basis. To book your place on events please visit our Eventbrite page and register.  It is likely further sessions will be added as we draw closer to the festival. ‘Our Lincolnshire’ Survey | College of Arts, Uni of Lincoln

Survey! 2nd Years, what should our New Year’s resolution be?

Our Year Two students at the University of Lincoln have you had your say via the Level 2 Student Survey?  We’d love to hear your comments by 16th January 2015. There’s a £300 prize fund for the School which has the highest percentage of undergraduates completing the survey. So here’s a reminder from the Student Engagement Section at EDEU (Educational Development & Enhancement Unit): 

L2-OnlineSurvey-deadline16.01.2015The survey is run online. Every student who is eligible to complete the survey should have received an email to their university account with a link to the survey. Or Level two students can go directly to the link www.lincoln.ac.uk/talktous and log in with their usual university username and password.

The survey asks second year undergraduate students to reflect on the quality of teaching and support so that we can use the feedback to improve these things at course, school and university levels. Thank you.
