Creative Careers Week for Students | 26th-29th May 2015

CreativeCareersWeek_May2015 The University of Lincoln Careers and Employability Team has organised FREE events for our students in the College of Arts during Creative Careers Week. Find out about going freelance, job-hunting strategies and postgraduate opportunities. Also try mock job interviews and get an insight into the assessments used by employers. See the range of events about career options from Tuesday 26th to Friday 29th May and it’s best to REGISTER NOW! 

Event organisers said: We recommend that students from the College of Arts attend at least three sessions to get full value from the week. This can also be counted towards your Lincoln Award chosen and academic approved activities. You need to be a student currently studying at the University of Lincoln to attend this week. If you have questions regarding the events please email Helen McCarron hmccarron@lincoln.ac.uk.

Jimmy Tearaway2006 graduate, and one of our industry media mentors, Jimmy Gregory works as a Programme Executive at The Prince’s Trust.  He is based in Leicester and also Lincoln and Corby. With the University of Lincoln’s Careers & Employability team he’ll be running three self-employment workshops on 30 & 31 March and 8 April. The Prince’s Trust have recognised the high demand for business support from university students and have opened up their monthly workshops at their office at Oak House to any final year students who were unable to book a place on the university on-campus workshops. Rachel Hagreen, Class of 2014 | I got the job (at VideoJug)!

Rachel Hagreen_cuI got the job! I am officially an office and production assistant at VideoJug. Meaning I’ll be leaving Lincoln and Halifax and moving to London in approximately 2 weeks time to start work on the 18th of August.

Thankfully it was my extensive CV that appealed to them and they were impressed with the amount of work I’d done alongside my degree (thank God it was worth it). I’m extremely excited to join the company, they’re getting around 50 million views on their website per month and this is constantly increasing, as is their list of clients. It seems like a really exciting place to work and I can’t wait to actually use the skills I’ve learnt whilst at university to contribute to such an established company.

The past 2/3 months have been an absolute nightmare. I have become the flakiest, most irritating person there ever was, trying to decide whether to go into employment or self-employment. Continue reading →
