Indie-Lincs Film Festival | Micro-budget film entries are open

Indie-Lincs-2017-posterIt’s back! Film entries are open for Indie-Lincs NOW until 1st December 2016, with screenings to be held in March 2017 at Lincoln Performing Arts Centre. The international film festival aims to ‘champion low and micro budget films, and their filmmakers.’ Films will compete for prizes in 5 categories from best feature to best short. For entry rules go to: http://www.indie-lincs.com

Organiser, LSFM Lecturer in film production, Mikey Murray said:  We are looking for dynamic, inventive and challenging fiction, documentary and animated micro-budget films completed after 1st January 2015. University of Lincoln students can have a free waiver to submit a film. Magna Carta 800th Anniversary | Original document in Lincoln (UK)

magna-carta-web-215 June 2015 is the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta.  There are four original documents of Magna Carta, which were sealed by King John in 1215, and one is in LINCOLN.  ‘The Great Charter’ agreed the rule of law applied to all and recognised civil liberties. Visit Lincoln said the city is ‘the only place in the world where you can find an original copy of Magna Carta together with the Charter of the Forest … The two charters belong to Lincoln Cathedral and are housed in Lincoln Castle.’  A new visitor centre at the castle, events and public lectures will celebrate Lincoln Cathedral’s Magna Carta. magna-carta-vault-LincolnCastleAs part of the Great Magna Carta Weekend, on 13 June the University of Lincoln and Lincoln BIG hosted the Freedom Festival.  Then on Sunday (14 June) at Lincoln Castle was the launch of a digital platform 1215.Today exploring the global significance of the Magna Carta through Art.  It is a 2-year collaborative initiative led by the University of Lincoln with regional art organisations, schools, businesses, City and County councils. Industry alumni on-campus | Mondays 10 Nov-1 Dec 5-6pm | EMMTEC

Our alumni networking with students at Meet the Graduates is a main event at the Lincoln School of Film & Media. But LSFM have alumni coming on-campus all year to share their experiences with students. Senior Lecturer Dave McCaig  has organised graduates from industry on Mondays: 10, 17, 24 Nov and 1st Dec. He said: these alumni demonstrate the strength of the multi-disciplinary degrees at LSFM. With a strong background in media practices during their degrees and a combination of hard work and ambition, these guest speakers have shown that the School’s highly valued in the media industries. We are very pleased that our graduates have returned to pass on their knowledge. Monday in EMMTEC 5-6pm:

Sean StrangeMon 10th November Sean Strange, Class of 2013:  As well as doing his own freelance work Sean is currently a staff photographer at F/stop Event Photography. His previous experience includes, events photographer for The Imperial War Museum and press photographer for RAF Waddington.

  • Mon 24th November Joel Murray, Class of 2011: Digital marketing co-ordinator at Lincoln BIG and Visit Lincoln.
  • Mon 1st  Dec Darren Scales, Class of 2008: Indie Filmmaker at Backyard Productions. His latest community project on a £5000 budget was The Drift film.  It was created with the help of volunteers and LSFM media students & graduates.

Frequency Fest 2013, Lincoln

Frequency_logoThe Frequency Festival of Digital Culture will return to Lincoln from Friday 18th to Saturday 26th October 2013.  Organisers said the festival will ‘bring to the city an extraordinary celebration of international arts, culture and technology.’  Frequency 2013 will explore the concept of revolution and will invite you to consider the impact of the digital revolution, asking how art and culture help us to articulate the dimensions and effects of change?
