Alumni Q&A session | LSFM Creative Enterprise module
Love our graduates back on-campus to share experiences and connect with our students from our annual network event Meet the Graduates (2nd November 2016) to teaching modules. TODAY half a dozen alumni will join our final year students in the Creative Enterprise session and module co-ordinator Zara Healy said: we welcome 6 of our graduates who are all working in multimedia roles. They have all graduated within the last 5 years from LSFM – some are freelance, some are employed full-time and at least 3 have set up their own creative industry companies. The one and a half hour session will be a Question and Answer about how this module’s assessment – pitch and paperwork – has helped graduates in their own pitches, how to develop ideas and present them to help them in their roles in the Media industry.

Ben Atkinson, Class of 2013 & 2015 | Creative Director, Tall Lime
When I graduated in 2013 I have to admit at first, I wasn’t entirely sure what I wanted to do with myself career wise. The three years I’d spent at LSFM were so intense when it came to both student work and throwing myself into external projects, like co-founding the student radio station Brayford Radio, that it was weird for everything to suddenly just stop. I’d also faced a very clear dividing line in my interests during third year, choosing to focus on radio (my passion) but at the same time marrying it with digital media (where I thought my skills were best placed career wise). In the end the first thing I decided to do was take a break from everything and visit friends in Latvia that I’d made during a trip to Finland for the MC2020 project in my final year, and on my return I applied for an internship at the University.
Applying for the internship seemed to make perfect sense for me at the time because the one stipulation I had set myself when I graduated was to stay in Lincoln. Continue reading

LSFM Degree Show 2016 | Lincoln Theatre Royal on 14th & 15th May
University of Lincoln School of Film and Media final year students will showcase their creative work at the Lincoln Theatre Royal THIS weekend, and YOU are invited. It is the first time the historic city venue has staged a two-day multimedia exhibition by third year undergraduates and it is the first time the annual event is off-campus. The LSFM Degree Show is an opportunity for the public to see original, experimental and creative content in the Grade II listed theatre: from pop-up spaces like the Writers’ Room and take part in script reading to dressing rooms transformed into individual cinema booths. Screenings will be in the 450-seat Victorian auditorium, also above and below the stage will be design and digital exhibitions. Even the bar will turn into a gallery and backstage a sound and radio installation space. The LSFM Degree Show is FREE and open to the public on Saturday 11am-7pm & Sunday 11am-4pm. Wheelchair access is limited to the ground floor and some content may not be suitable for children. Here’s the programme and this is the LSFM Degree Show trailer. 1215.today Artistic Digital Commission | LSFM & Arts Council
1215.today is a major LSFM/Arts Council project that commemorates 800 years of the Magna Carta with an online platform that gives young people (aged 14-24) a space to debate and create. Organisers said: We are inviting a filmmaker, animator or artist / maker / practitioner working with moving image to work with us in the development of a new artistic digital commission. Artists do not need to have previous experience in working online as they will be supported through the process by expert creative technologists. Artists will need to be open to new ways of working and welcome critical conversation and collaboration, particularly with young people. By looking, listening and talking about societal and individual rights explored across the breadth of art forms, we aim to agitate and engage young people to create work about big issues. Here are the 1215Today Film Commission application details. Deadline is 8th May 2016. Read more on the 1215.today webpage about the commissioning process, £10k fee offered to the artist and the terms. Continue reading
‘Our Lincolnshire’ New App | Choose your heritage objects
Choose your Lincolnshire heritage objects, from the Lincoln Imp Brooch to Skegness Model Village, with a new App to help a research project at the University of Lincoln. The team said: selections on ‘My Lincolnshire Collection’ web-app will form part of Our Lincolnshire project’s report, which will gauge people’s perceptions of heritage – what is important to them and what it means to them.
The Our Lincolnshire project team, led by Professors Carenza Lewis and Matthew Cragoe, have now launched ‘My Lincolnshire Collection’, a creative web-app that provides a panel of 100 photographs of interesting and unusual heritage objects from around Lincolnshire, and asks you to create a collection of up to 10 of your favourites. Each object is represented by a photograph and an informative description to help you make your choices, and can be dragged from the panel on 100 into a selection bar at the top of the page. Michael Henry, Class of 2009 | Official Trailer ‘MUTE’ (2016)
Independent filmmaker, who is one of our inspirational LSFM Industry Mentors, 2009 alumnus Michael Henry has posted an update on the latest development at Quandary Productions.
We’ve recently released the official trailer to our latest feature film ‘MUTE’, written and directed by me, and here’s the synopsis: Verbal communication has been outlawed by the rich elite, in an attempt to stop people speaking out against the conditions they live in. The new laws are enforced by the security department of the ‘Spectrum’ corporation – a huge conglomerate of the five biggest companies in the world. A voyeuristic filmmaker falls in love with an underground spoken word artist. As they find themselves unable to talk to one another, they start to make small films and write letters to one another. As the poet speaks out against ‘Spectrum’ and its owners, their lives become in danger. Will they be able to save each other in time?
To be released May of this year, on various platforms, including 4k Ultra HD, we’ll be looking to make this a huge hit at festivals around the world. Continue reading
