LSM graduate Thomas Ridgewell (a.k.a TomSka) is a digital media producer and he creates content on YouTube. The video sharing site has just celebrated its eighth birthday (23rd April) and TomSka talked on Sky News about his YT work.
Tom started his YouTube channel when he was a second year LSM undergraduate and now he’s listed as a successful British YouTube creator. TomSka is in the top twenty of the most popular online video bloggers on YouTube UK, as we posted earlier this month, along with his fellow LSM Graduate Chris Bingham. Media Culture 2020 is an Erasmus Intensive Programme. The project demonstrates what 21st century converged and interactive European Media Culture could be. Celebrate 10 years of business innovation with Sparkhouse.

Today is the official launch of the ‘Save Television Centre Studios’ campaign. It aims to halt demolishing five of the UK’s working studios. Chris Hainstock, LSM’s Senior Lecturer, has been party to the press launch:
The campaign has been set up by a group of TV industry veterans – directors, producers, sound engineers, technicians, crew and many others from all walks of television production – who all feel passionately about the demolition of not only some of the best working TV studios in the country, but the destruction of such an iconic and magical place to work. BFI Doc Next Media Lab. Apply by – 29th April. We’re looking for 10 filmmakers to become part of the BFI’s Doc Next Media Lab. As part of the Lab you’ll receive a £750 bursary, technical film training from professionals, tutoring on different documentary styles, methods and ideas, and the chance to develop and hone your art into something special. Student Ents: Apply by 24th April. Our new termly brief, designed to give students the financial and marketing support to run a successful creative event for their peers. The event could be anything an exhibition, screening, social or talk we don’t mind as long as it has a creative focus. Lincoln School of Media graduates and some of our students have been on-location to shoot a short called ‘Lancaster’.
It is a period drama about the Lancaster bomber crew on what would turn out to be their final mission across occupied Europe. Graduate Phil Stevens & Red Dog Film was commissioned by East Lindsey District Council to make this film for the Lancaster’s 75th anniversary later this year. 
The crew are now in the editing stage, and sound post production will take place at the Lincoln Sound Theatre in the School of Media. ‘Lancaster’ is due to premier in June.
LSM’s Senior Lecturer Chris Hainstock said: “The Lancaster film project has just finished four days’ shooting in and around Lincolnshire. Written and directed by some of our graduates, Phil Stevens and Lewis Gemmill. The Director of Photography is another graduate Stewart MacGregor, and Denise Barry was make up/wardrobe.
I have set up a Twitter feed @lancastermovie and also a Facebook page. A big thank you to Tom Mckie (Level 2 media prod student) and Ross McGowan (Level 3 media prod student) who acted as camera assistants and runners for the entire shoot, including the night shoot 5pm to 7am!”
