James WaddellThe first offer came during a meeting with the head of CITV in London. I had interviewed him for my dissertation and wanted to let him know that I had received a first and to also thank him for his involvement. In an email he had mentioned “if you are ever in London…” well I took that literally and went to see him! At the end our our chat he offered me a role as an assistant cameraman on a new series.  I actually turned this job down and took a job at Sky as I thought this role would give me more experience during the long term. Within 6 months I was trained to be a vision mixer, a route I knew to being a director.  Continue reading

Rosie Turner, Class of 2015 | BBC CBeebies Content Producer

RosieTurner-WebsiteHello! I’m Rosie and I graduated in 2015 with a BA (Hons) in Media Production. I work for BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC as a Content Producer for CBeebies. My role involves managing the social media for pre school shows Hey Duggee, Go Jetters and Sarah & Duck. As an online producer my role could be anything from coming up with new ideas for videos to promote magazines and toys to collaborating with the Children’s department in Manchester, attending brand partner meetings and even researching Christmas cakes designs!

I’m really excited to have joined the BBC after working for 18 months at a social media agency in East London on projects for Red Bull, MTV and CBBC. This role has allowed me to use the skills I’ve already gained in Children’s television to create exciting and inspirational content for families, parents/guardians and teachers! In my last year of university I wrote my dissertation on ‘Bringing The Children Out To Play’ a study on the relationship between Children’s online/broadcast media and the outdoors. I love spending time in nature and in my spare time I’ve been working on my own project called ‘The Urban Backpacker.’ Continue reading
