The University of Lincoln’s College of Arts is delighted to announce its second Lincoln Festival of Creativity from 21st May to 1st June 2018.

You are invited to ‘Engage, Imagine, Explore’ at the Lincoln School of Film & Media End of Year Show. LSFM’s next generation of creatives are looking forward to seeing you at The Engine Shed, LPAC and Drill Hall in Lincoln. Media Mentors, Gallery | LSFM Student Opportunity

Thanks to professionals who kindly volunteer their time from their busy work schedules to mentor a student from the University of Lincoln School of Film & Media. Commitment with a student-mentee is to have at least 6 contact times (either online or in person) across an academic year. Meet the Graduates 2017 | Vox Pop on Job-hunting

Thanks to our alumni who shared their experiences of the working world with Lincoln School of Film & Media’s students at our networking event Meet the Graduates (8th Nov). Head of LSFM Professor Steven Peacock said: There was a real buzz about the place. It was fantastic to see so many of our past and present students coming together to share news of such wide-ranging professional achievement.

Meet the Graduates | Industry Profiles on 8th Nov 2017

See who is planning to come for LSFM’s free industry network event Meet the Graduates. Former students have posted a profile on their experiences since graduating. Our Grads (their work permitting) have spared time to be on-campus with LSFM students on 8th Nov. THIS Wednesday MtG 2017 is your on-campus opportunity to connect with like-minded creatives, make industry links, share tips on job-hunting and collaborate on projects.

LSFM STUDENTS are invited to take their theatre seat for 2pm in the Stephen Langton Building (SLB) for the Graduate Question Time panel. Ask questions to our alumni who work – on staff and freelance contracts – across the media industry from big corporates (BBC TV) to indies (Epix Media). Please note: Lisa Rustage has just got work on a feature film – at short notice as things tend to be in her job – so she said: “Truly disappointed I cannot make it!”

Luke Pickering, Class of 2012 | Rising Star Pro Sound Award

CONGRATS to ‘Rising Star 2017’ Luke Pickering, BA (Hons) Audio Production in 2012, who picked up an industry award for up and coming talent: I’m over the moon to have won the Pro Sound Rising Star award. There was some amazing talent and credentials amongst the other nominees so it’s a genuine surprise to be chosen, and I’m very grateful.

He works for Paul Epworth – award winning (Grammy, Academy, The Brits) music producer and songwriter – as Assistant Engineer in-house at The Church Studios. Luke reflected on his Audio Production course: There were a vast range of essential skills I would have struggled to learn elsewhere. There’s obviously the technical stuff but just as importantly you learn how to work in a group and to be part of a team – after all, people skills will be one of your most valuable assets when you’re in the industry! 4-week Festival of Creativity, Lincoln | 12 May – 9 June 2017

Lincoln is hosting its first, FREE, Festival of Creativity (FOC), organised by the University of Lincoln’s College of Arts. The four-week fest (12th May-9th June) is to showcase and celebrate the emerging creative talent in the city – bringing together a wide range of disciplines through a series of exhibitions, talks and performances for everyone to ‘engage, explore, imagine’. The festival hosts a number of signature events, with advice from leading creative industry experts exploring the wider debate about the importance of the arts in contemporary society.

Final year students from across the College of Arts will celebrate the culmination of three years of study, sharing their work in respective Degree Shows in venues across the city, from art exhibitions and fashion shows to interactive displays and theatrical performances. LSFM Interim Head Richard Vickers said: We believe graduates should be skilled in communication, be instinctively collaborative, entrepreneurial and inherently interdisciplinary in their approach… Our students learn through projects that have social and cultural capital, exploring creative approaches to challenges and applying design thinking as a process for developing solutions. Rose Braisby, Class of 2013 | National Service User Award for KTP

CONGRATS to all involved in winning at the NHS NSU Awards 2017 for the KTP (Knowledge Transfer Partnership) at Rampton Hospital. The KTP project was to develop an interactive radio drama model that would help create innovative research with ‘Dialectical Behaviour Therapy’. Dr Sarah Barrow, Deputy Head College of Arts at the University of Lincoln: Rose Braisby is a 2013 Graduate of Lincoln School of Film & Media (Media Production, specialised in radio) – she was appointed as the KTP Associate working within Rampton Hospital with patients and staff in some very challenging – and rewarding – situations. LSFM’s Dylan Roys was the Academic lead for the project, supporting Rose every step of the way. Thank you to everyone who supported this project.”

Dylan said: Our KTP project at Rampton Hospital won the National Health and Wellbeing Initiative at the NHS National Service User Awards 2017 – it is really big deal in the NHS and the first time Rampton has won something as big as this.” Rose tweeted: After a lot of hard work from all involved, so proud to have led this project! Well done all in making this a success! #NSUA2017 Rose is working part-time as an Associate Lecturer in the College of Arts.
