Media Mentors | Industry & LSFM

Lincoln School of Film & Media (LSFM) is proud to have mentors who work in a range of media jobs. LSFM Mentoring with industry started as a pilot and has been running, developing, for three academic years. Our undergraduates apply, for 20 places, to have their own media mentor. LSFM said: Employability is at the heart of everything we do. Read LSFM’s student story from mentee Imogen Hayes. LSFM Mentoring is in collaboration with the University of Lincoln Careers & Employability team. 

Mentors, many who are our graduates, kindly volunteer time from their busy schedules for LSFM Mentoring. Over summer we’ll check on our mentors availability for the new academic year 2018-19. Thanks to professionals who kindly volunteer their time from their busy work schedules to mentor a student from the University of Lincoln School of Film & Media. 20 mentors are required for LSFM Mentoring each new academic year, so we check who’ll be available from our mentors’ database. Here’s a snapshot of some of our mentors and we’re proud that many mentors are our alumni!

It’s the University of Lincoln Graduation Day (24 Jan 2018) at lovely Lincoln Cathedral. Our Lincoln School of Film & Media’s graduands will be at the 2.30pm ceremony and it will be on YouTube.

Thanks to all for participating. Our Grad Question Time was hosted by Steve Smailes (Class of 2012) with alumni from 2002 to 2017 who shared their experiences, tips and advice about the world of work – at home and abroad. We loved the live link-up with video editor Philip Roberts (Class of 2006) from Crytek in Frankfurt.

Meet the Graduates | Industry Profiles on 8th Nov 2017

See who is planning to come for LSFM’s free industry network event Meet the Graduates. Former students have posted a profile on their experiences since graduating. Our Grads (their work permitting) have spared time to be on-campus with LSFM students on 8th Nov. THIS Wednesday MtG 2017 is your on-campus opportunity to connect with like-minded creatives, make industry links, share tips on job-hunting and collaborate on projects. 

LSFM STUDENTS are invited to take their theatre seat for 2pm in the Stephen Langton Building (SLB) for the Graduate Question Time panel. Ask questions to our alumni who work – on staff and freelance contracts – across the media industry from big corporates (BBC TV) to indies (Epix Media).  Please note: Lisa Rustage has just got work on a feature film –  at short notice as things tend to be in her job – so she said: “Truly disappointed I cannot make it!”

Media Mentors for LSM’s Students

I started BROKENLOGO in 2007 in my last few weeks of my course – undertaking my initial piece of professional design work for the University and at the same time as working on the promotions team for the Engine Shed in its debut year. Michael Passingham Update

I have been offered a job at London-based technology/IT news website www.V3.co.uk. It’s an absolutely brilliant first job to get, and it’s a highly-regarded news source in the industry, so I’m absolutely thrilled about it. It’s a 9 month maternity contract, but it’s a great step onto the ladder. I’ll be covering IT skills/education, social media and UK tech startups.
